A Kind of Magic Album Queen Rock Music

A Kind of Magic Album is by Queen, the British rock group. In the United Kingdom, the twelfth studio album by the group was released on the 3rd of June 1986 under the EMI Record label, with the release in the United States by Capitol Records.
The album was produced by the members of Queen, German record producer Reinhold Mack and English producer David Richards.
The first studio album by the group to be recorded digitally, it is based on the soundtrack for Highlander, the 1986 British-American fantasy action-adventure. The film which starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, Clancy Brown and Roxanne Hart, initially failed to become a box office hit but has gone on to be a cult amongst fans and is considered to be the film’s unofficial soundtrack. Out of the nine songs that feature on the A Kind of Magic album, six of the tracks appear in the movie, although the film versions differ from those on the record.
Once released, the A Kind of Magic album received mixed reviews in the music press, with the Rolling Stone magazine  calling the album ” heavy plastic ” adding ” This band might as well put some pomp back in its rock. Its members are never going to make it as dignified elder statesmen.”
Although there were mixed reviews given at the time by critics, a more favourable review was provided later by online music guide, AllMusic ” It may not have been as cohesive as some of their other albums, but A Kind of Magic was their best work in some time.”.
The A Kind of Magic album became a successful release for the group, along with healthy worldwide sales of over six million copies, they also had four singles make the charts.
The title track, ” A Kind of Magic “, was released on the 17th of March 1986 in the United Kingdom and the 4th of June 1986 in the United States.
Written initially by Queen drummer Roger Taylor, it was later reworked by Lead singer Freddie Mercury, who took the original and came up with a new bass line and included instrumental breaks. He also rearranged the order of the song, resulting in a more chart-friendly track.
The single entered the UK Singles Chart on the 29th of March 1986 and peaked at number three. It spent six weeks in the Top Ten and eleven weeks in the Top 100.
It topped the singles chart in Spain and peaked inside the Top Ten in Ireland, Australia, Switzerland, Holland, France and Germany. In the United States, ” A Kind of Magic ” reached number forty-two on the Billboard Hot 100.
The A Kind of Magic album also had success on the charts. In the United Kingdom, it entered the UK Albums Chart on the 14th of June 1986 at Number One, which it held for one week. The album spent sixteen weeks in the Top Ten and sixty-three weeks in the Top 100.
The album had chart success elsewhere, peaking at number forty-six on the Billboard 200 in the United States and making it into the Top Ten in Australia, New Zealand, Holland, France, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
