Back to Black Album is by Amy Winehouse. Released on the 27th of October 2006 as her second, and the last album, it was well liked by critics, receiving widespread acclaim.
The album also won many awards. Back to Black won Best Pop Vocal Album and was also nominated for Album of the Year at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in 2008. It was also nominated for the MasterCard British Album at the Brit Awards in 2007 and shortlisted for the Mercury Prize the same year.
The album sold 3.58 million copies in the United Kingdom alone, becoming the country’s second best-selling album of the 21st century.
The lead single ” Rehab “, was released on the 23rd of October 2006 by record label Island Records ( Universal Music Group ). The single is about her refusal to enter a rehabilitation clinic to address her addictions. The song became a success with critics and international record-buying public.
In the United States, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number ninety-one, eventually climbing to peak at number nine. The Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ) certified the single 2x Platinum with sales of 2,000,000.
In the United Kingdom, ” Rehab ” entered the UK Singles Chart at number nineteen based on download sales, when the physical single was released the following week, it climbed to peak at number seven.
The song also reached the Top Ten in more than ten countries including Canada, Spain, Denmark, and Israel. It also reached Number One in Norway and Hungary. The single reached the Top Twenty in France, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Finland.
The Back to Black album was a massive success for Amy. In the United States, the album debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 Chart with sales of 51,000 in its first week, finally reaching a peak of number two.
In the United Kingdom, the album entered the UK Albums Chart at number three, after spending some time on the chart it finally reached Number One. It became the biggest-selling Album of 2007 in the country with sales of 1.85 Million.
The Back to Black album topped the album charts in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland and topped the European Top 100 Albums Chart for thirteen non-consecutive weeks.
As of November 2010, Back to Black is the fifth most downloaded of all time in Germany. By April 2013, the album had sold over 12 Million copies worldwide.

It has been certified 3x Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ) in the UK and has sold over a million units.
Amy Winehouse died at the age of 27 of alcohol poisoning on the 23rd of July 2011.
