Echo Album is by Leona Lewis, the British singer-songwriter.
Her second studio album was released on the 9th of November 2009 ( 16th November UK and 17th November the US ) under the record labels Syco in the UK and worldwide by Sony Music.
Leona Lewis enlisted the help of many of the music industry’s top writers and producers including Noel Gallagher, Ryan Tedder, Justin Timberlake and Max Martin. She co-wrote seven on the thirteen tracks featured.
The Echo album, which is a mixture of up-tempo songs and ballads, received mixed reviews in the music press, with some praising her vocal delivery while others criticised the material Leona Lewis was given to work with by her label.
Despite the reviews that divided music critics, it has been certified 2x Platinum in the UK by the British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ) for sales of 600,000.
In Ireland, it has also been certified 2x Platinum for sales of 30,000. The album has also been certified Platinum in Austria, Canada and Switzerland. Sales in Europe are over two million.
The lead single, ” Happy “, was released on the 15th of September 2009. Upon release, the single gained mostly positive reviews from the music press. Lyrically the song is about the singer being happy and seizing the day.
In the United States, it peaked at number thirty-one on the Billboard Hot 100. In the United Kingdom, it charted on the UK Singles Chart on the 21st of November 2009 and reached number two. It stayed for three weeks in the Top Ten and ten weeks on the chart.
The single also made the Top Ten in Austria, Germany, Ireland, Japan and Switzerland.
The Echo album proved to be a success. In the United States, it peaked at thirteen on the Billboard 200.
In the UK it entered straight in at the top of the UK Albums Chart with sales of 161,000 for the first week. The album held the top spot for one week, spent four weeks in the Top Ten and twenty-five weeks on the chart there.
Leona Lewis also had chart success with the album in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Netherlands, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

About Leona Lewis
Leona Louise Lewis was born on the 3rd of April 1985 in The London Borough of Islington, England.
At the age of 12, Leona penned her first song. She is trained in jazz, blues, pop and contemporary music.
Leona studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, the Ravenscourt Theatre School and the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. When she reached 17, Leona decided to leave her studies and follow her dream of turning professional in the music business.
Working with Spiral Music, a south-west London production company, she recorded her demo album, Twilight. Passing it around many record companies, Twilight failed to impress enough to secure a deal.

As the winner, Leona Louise released her debut single, ” A Moment Like This ” on the 17th of December 2006. The cover of Kelly Clarkson’s Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper broke a world record in the UK after being digitally downloaded over 50,000 times in less than thirty minutes.
The single took the coveted Christmas Number One spot, outselling the whole of the UK Singles Top Forty combined. The song spent four consecutive weeks at the top. In Ireland, it also topped the chart there for six weeks.
Her debut album, Spirit, was released on the 9th of November 2007. Spirit debuted at Number One on the charts in nine countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, where it spent eight weeks at the top of the UK Albums Chart.
According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry ( IFPI ) is the sixth biggest-selling album of 2008 worldwide.
Leona Lewis is a vegetarian, animal rights campaigner and anti-fur trade, famously turning down a considerable sum offered by Harrods to open a sale due to the fact they sell fur.
She has sold 20 million records worldwide during her career and is the second best-selling act from The X Factor, behind One Direction.
To date, Leona Lewis’ Album releases are five studio, one live and one video album. She has also released one EP, sixteen singles and twenty music videos.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist, Leona Lewis has won many awards. They include two MOBO, one MTV Asia, one MTV Video Music, three World Music and two Virgin Media. She has also won three VEVOCertified Awards, which reward music videos that have reached 100 million views on YouTube.
