Life Is Peachy Album is by Korn, the American alternative metal band.
Their second studio album was released on the 15th of October 1996 under both record labels Immortal Records and Epic.
The Life Is Peachy album is made up of fourteen tracks, not including the hidden track after ” Kill You “, which begins after 2 minutes 30 seconds of silence.
For this second studio offering, Korn wrote about social encounters, sex, revenge and drugs. The album gained mixed reviews in the music press upon release. Some praised the fact it was harsher than their debut, while others said it was nothing new or groundbreaking.
Despite the critics, it sold 106,000 in its first week of release in the United States, where it has been certified 2x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ).
The first single, ” No Place to Hide “, was released on the 14th of September 1996. The song has rarely been played live since their promotional tours to promote the release of the album.
In 1998, it was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Metal Performance, their second in that category. In The United Kingdom, ” No Place to Hide ” reached number twenty-six on the UK Singles Chart. It spent one week in the Top 40 and two weeks on the chart there.
The Life Is Peachy album has been a success for Korn. In the United States, it peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.
In the United Kingdom, the Life Is Peachy album entered the UK Albums Chart on the 26th of October 1996 and reached number thirty-two, spending one week in the Top 40 and three weeks in the Top 100.
It topped the albums chart in New Zealand. It also peaked inside the Top 40 in Australia ( 26 ), Austria ( 21 ), Belgium ( Flanders 36, Wallonia 25 ), Finland ( 24 ), Norway ( 24 ), Sweden ( 36 ) and Canada ( 32 ).
Korn is an American nu metal band. Formed in 1993, the current members include Jonathan Davis, James Shaffer, Reginald Arvizu, Brian Welch and Ray Luzier.
The idea for the name Korn using a backward ” R ” came from the toy retailer Toys R Us, a company where many of the band had worked previously.
The group’s demo album, Korn, was released on the 11th of October 1994. The music press well received the album.
Their debut peaked at number seventy-two on the Billboard 200 in the US and 181 in the UK, ten in New Zealand, fifty-six in the Netherlands and forty-six in Australia.
In the United States, Seven of Korn’s official releases have been certified platinum by the RIAA, with two 2x Platinum, one 3x platinum, one 5x platinum and two certified Gold. In the US, sales for the album are in the region of 2.1 million copies.
To date, Korn’s Album releases are twelve studio, three live, seven video albums and eight compilations. They have also released four Extended Plays, forty-three singles, ten promotional singles and forty-six music videos.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist’s, Korn has won many awards including two Grammys, two MTV Video Music, one MTV Asia, two Kerrang! magazine and two Alternative Press Music Awards. As of August 2018, Korn’s record sales worldwide exceed 35 million.
