However, Florence Welch denied that the lyrics referenced domestic violence, saying on her MySpace page ” It is about two people pushing each other to psychological extremes because they are fighting, but they still love each other. The song is not about one person being attacked, or any actual physical violence, there are no victims in this song. ” She pointed to ” Bleeding Love “, the chart-topping single by Leona Lewis saying that the song ” isn’t actually about her bleeding and this song isn’t actually about punching someone in the mouth.”

About Florence and the Machine
Florence and the Machine, often written as Florence + the Machine, are an indie rock band. Formed in 2007 in London, England, the current line-up is made up of Florence Welch, Isabella Summers, Robert Ackroyd, Tom Monger, Loren Humphrey and Cyrus Bayandor.
The name of the group came from lead vocalist Florence Welch’s early partnership with songwriter and keyboardist Isabella ‘ Machine ‘ Summers. Before the name change, they performed together using the name Florence Robot/Isa Machine, which they later changed to Florence and the Machine after Florence Welch decided the name was too long and awkward.
The band’s music, which is a mixture of different genres, started getting traction in the music media after they were championed by the BBC, featuring on the corporation’s BBC Introducing, a platform for unsigned artists to showcase on the broadcaster’s radio stations such as Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, Radio 3, 6 Music and the Asian Network.
After the release of their debut album, Lungs, they gained popularity, and in 2015, they headlined at the Glastonbury, an annual music Festival held during the last weekend of June near the picturesque village of Pilton in Somerset, England. Florence Welch became the first British female to headline the festival this century.
