Multiply Album is by Ed Sheeran. The second album, stylized as X, was released on the 20th of June 2014 by record labels Asylum Records and Atlantic Records ( both Warner Music Group ) in Australia and New Zealand. Worldwide the release date was on the 23rd of June.
Ed worked on Multiply with some of the top producers in the industry, including Rick Rubin and Jeff Bhasker, Benny Blanco, Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol and Jake Gosling.
Upon its release, the album was well received by many critics, some critics however, felt it was a bit bland with ” rote and soppy ” lyrics and uninspiring.
Despite some negative reviews, the Multiply Album has been certified 10× Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ) in the United Kingdom, selling over three million copies in the country alone. The album’s sales figures make it the third best-selling of the 2010s; it has also gone on to become one of the best selling albums in the history of the UK Albums Chart.
Multiply has also been certified 3× Platinum in Canada and 6× Platinum in New Zealand. In the United States, The Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ) has certified the album 4× Platinum for sales of over four million copies. In Australia, it has gone Diamond, the first album ever to have such an award.
In addition to the numerous Platinum discs, the Multiply album broke Adele’s record for the longest charting Top Ten album in the history of the UK Albums Chart. Multiply won the Brit Award for British Album of the Year in2015 and had a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year at the 57th Grammy Awards. The album has gone on to sell over ten million copies worldwide.
The lead single, ” Sing “, was released on the 7th of April 2014. Co-written with Pharrell Williams, the single received good reviews from critics.
” Sing ” was a commercial success for Ed. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the single debuted at the top of both country’s charts, which gave him his first number-one singles on both charts there. The song has sold 670,000 physical copies in the United Kingdom, which added to 66 million streams provides a combined total sales of 1,339,000 units.
In the United States, ” Sing ” peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100. In May 2014, the song debuted at Number One on the Australian ARIA Chart, making it his first chart-topper in the country and his sixth single to reach the Top Ten in Australia.
The Multiply Album was a commercial success for Ed. The album had success worldwide, becoming a chart-topper in many countries worldwide including the US and UK.
The Album also made it into the Top Five in seven countries, but only peaked at number thirty-two in Japan and forty-five in Korea.

Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter. Edward Christopher Sheeran was born on the 17th of February 1991 in Halifax, a town in West Yorkshire, England.
At the age of four Ed would sing in the choir at his local church. He learnt to play the guitar when very young and began writing songs at high school.
Ed independently released his No. 5 Collaborations Project on the 7th of January 2011, the Extended Play, the last of five, was sent to record labels in the hope of securing a contract, Ed later signed to Asylum Records.
