My Universe Album is by The Shires, the British country duo. The second studio album was released on the 30th of September 2016 by record label Decca, part of the Universal Music Group.
My Universe is a mix of mellow tracks and more upbeat numbers like ” Not Even Drunk Right Now “.
To record the album, the duo, Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes, travelled to Nashville, the capital city of the state of Tennessee, United States.
The city, best known for producing some of the most significant country music stars, has offices for the big four record labels and numerous smaller independent labels there. The world famous Gibson guitars ( Gibson Brands, Inc. ) has its headquarters in the city and have been there since 1984.
With sales of 14,913 units in the first week, My Universe is the fastest-selling UK country album of all time.
The title track, ” My Universe ” was released on the 16th of September 2016. The song was written by The Shires member Ben Earle and Martin Brammer, the English singer-songwriter, composer and producer.
A founding member of the Kane Gang, an English pop trio who had hits in the 1980s. He now writes for other artists including Tina Turner, James Morrison, James Bay, Olly Murs and Sheena Easton.
” My Universe ” was released in support of the #ItCanWait campaign, which was set up to raise awareness of the dangers that texting while driving can hold. The campaign went viral with over one million people pledging to stop texting and driving. The single debuted at number eighty-eight on the iTunes UK Chart and reached number eighty-seven.
My Universe album has been a chart success for The Shires. In the United Kingdom, the album entered and peaked on the UK Albums Chart on the 13th of October 2016 at number three.
It spent two weeks in the Top Ten and to date has spent twenty-nine weeks in the Top 100. It also topped the UK Country Albums Chart, eventually being dislodged by Ward Thomas. Other countries album chart positions are Australia sixty-three and Scotland two.
On the iTunes chart, the album peaked at number three and spent 200 days on the chart. It reached number ninety-nine on the Australian iTunes.
About The Shires
The Shires are a country music duo from the United Kingdom made up of Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes.
Coming from the neighbouring English counties of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, they took their name from ” Shire “, a term first used in Anglo-Saxon times to describe divisions of land, or ” Shires “.
Both Ben and Crissie are failed X Factor contestants. They met when Ben wanted to form a duo and posted a request on Facebook, to which Crissie answered.
After forming in 2013, they released their debut album, Brave, two years later. The album reached number ten on the UK Albums Chart, making the duo the first British country act in the history of the chart to have a top ten album in the country.
To date, The Shires album releases are three. They have also released one Extended Play and nine singles.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist, The Shires have won five British Country Music Association and one Country Music Association Award.
