No Fences Album is by Garth Brooks. The album, released on the 27th of August 1990 as his second Album, saw Garth move away from more traditional country into country-pop. To date, it remains his best-selling studio album with seventeen million copies shipped in the United States alone. The No Fences album helped to launch Garth’s career internationally.
The lead single, ” Friends in Low Places “, was released on the 6th of August 1990. Lyrically it is about escaping into drinking. The single became a success, spending four weeks at Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. In the United Kingdom, the song peaked at number thirty-six on the UK Singles Chart in 1995 as a double-sided re-issue with ” The Dance “.
It won both the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association awards for 1990 Single of the Year.
The No Fences Album was a commercial success for Garth. In the United States, it reached Number One on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart, also reaching number three on the Billboard 200, where it spent 126 weeks in the Top Forty.
