The album was produced by Reba McEntire, Buddy Cannon and Norro Wilson.
The Room to Breathe album, which features twelve tracks, was recorded in 2003 in the ” home of country music “, Nashville Tennessee.
The album is a mixture of traditional country and other styles. It was the first set of new recordings since 2003 and the release of her US Platinum-certified album, So Good Together, which reached number twenty-eight on the Billboard 200.
Reba McEntire worked with Grammy award-winning country music recording artists Vince Gill and Linda Davis during the production. She dueted with Vince Gill for the album’s twelfth track ” It Just Has to Be This Way “.
The album gained positive reviews from music critics. Marshall Bowden, writing for Popmatters, called the album an ” inspired collection of tunes and styles “.
AllMusic‘s Maria Koniki Dinoia liked the album and awarded it three out of a possible five stars. She commented that Reba McEntire ” resurrects her position for country music that seemed to be missing on the previous album “.
The Room to Breathe album has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ) for sales of over one million copies in the United States.
The lead single, ” I’m Gonna Take That Mountain “, was released on the 30th of August 2003. It was written by Jerry Salley and Melissa Peirce.
The single peaked at number fourteen on the 1st of November 2003 and spent twenty-one weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. It also reached number three on the Bubbling Under 100 Singles Chart.
The Room to Breathe album became a commercial success for Reba McEntire. In the United States, the album peaked at number twenty-five on the 6th of December 2003 and spent thirty-four weeks on the Billboard 200.
It also reached number four on the 6th of December 2003 and spent 104 weeks on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.

Reba Nell McEntire was born on the 28th of March 1955 in McAlester, Oklahoma, United States.
In 1975 Reba signed with Mercury Records, now part of the Universal Music Group. She released her self-titled debut album in August 1977, which failed to impact the charts.
During her career, Reba has sold 65 million records in the United States alone. Worldwide record sales are over 90 million.
She has achieved sixteen chart-topping albums and with more albums reach number one than any female country music recording artist, Reba is only beaten to the top spot as best selling female country artist of all time by Dolly Parton. Out of all musical genres, she is number ten best selling female artist.
To date, Reba McEntire’s album releases are thirty-three studio albums, two live, sixteen Compilations and twelve video albums. She has also released ninety-five singles and fifty-five videos.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist, Reba McEntire has won many awards including three Grammys, sixteen Academy of Country Music, fourteen American Music, three Billboard Music, two British Country Music and eight Country Music Association.
