Suzi Quatro Album is by Suzi Quatro, the American singer, songwriter and bass guitarist.
Her debut album was released in October 1973 under the record label Rak Records, now owned by Gearbox Music.
The Suzi Quatro album was recorded at Audio International Studio in London, England. The studio was founded by Sir George Martin and Herman Edel. In addition to Suzy Quatro, it has played host to acts like Pink Floyd, Tom Jones, The Sweet and Harry Nilsson.
The album features twelve tracks, including three cover versions of songs released by Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Johnny Kidd and the Pirates.
The single ” Can The Can ” was omitted from the UK version, but was included in most releases outside of the country. For later pressings, the single was added to the UK tracklist.

Writing retrospectively for AllMusic, Dave Thompson said Suzi Quatro’s debut ” remains one of the most nakedly sexual albums of the entire glam rock epoch — and one of the hottest debuts of the decade. ” In a review for SputnikMusic, a user called it ” One of the best debuts of the Seventies. “
The most popular single, ” 48 Crash “, was released in 1973. It was written and produced by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn.
Lyrically there is some dispute as to the song’s meaning. Some believe the lyrics are about the United States financial crisis of 1848, while according to Suzi Quatro herself, the song is about male menopause.
The single it topped the chart in Australia, which at the time was compiled by The Kent Music Report.
” 48 Crash ” entered the UK Singles Chart on the 28th of July 1973 and reached number three. It spent four weeks in the Top Ten and nine weeks in the Top 100.
The single peaked at number six in Austria, two in Germany, eighteen in Belgium ( Flanders ), eight in Belgium Wallonia, sixteen in the Netherlands, five in Norway and two in Switzerland. Sales are estimated to be one million worldwide.
The Suzi Quatro album became commercially successful for Suzi Quatro. In the United Kingdom, the album entered the UK Albums Chart on the 13th of October 1973 and peaked at number thirty-two. It spent three weeks in the Top Forty and four weeks in the Top 100. The album also reached four in Germany, five in Austria and six in Norway.

Susan Kay Quatro is an American singer, songwriter, bass player and actress. As famous for wearing tight leather outfits as for her music, she has often been called the female Marc Bolan.
She was born on the 3rd of June 1950 in Detroit, the largest city in the state of Michigan, United States.
Her surname Quatro was shortened from her paternal name of Quattrocchi, the name of her grandfather, an immigrant from Italy who settled in the United States.
By the time she left school at the age of fourteen, she could already play drums, piano and guitar. She formed her first band, Suzi Soul and the Pleasure Seekers with her three sisters, touring with the band for four years.
Her next band, Cradle, she began touring bars and nightclubs the United States. Cradle also played in Vietnam to US soldiers.
In 1971, Mickey Most, the English producer of the Animals and Herman’s Hermits, was in her home town of Detroit to record Jeff Beck. He discovered Suzi Quatro at the East Town Theatre.
Realising she had potential, he brought her to England later that year. Her first performance in the country was at Loughborough University in 1972.
Writers Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn were brought in and wrote the song ” Can the Can ” especially for her. The single sold over two million worldwide. Suzi Quatro often appeared with her backing band made up of Len Tuckey playing the guitar, Alastair MacKenzie on keyboards and Dave Neal as the drummer.
Her acting roles included the character of Leather Tuscadero in Happy Days, the American ABC Network sitcom. The TV series began in 1974 and starred Ron Howard and Henry Winkler, who played The Fonz.
She also played Nancy, the girlfriend of Terry in Minder, which was a British ITV Network comedy series. The comedy-drama starred George Cole as Arthur Daley, the central character and Dennis Waterman as Terry McCann, his bodyguard. The show’s title was taken from the London slang term of minder meaning bodyguard.
Suzy Quatro also had roles in other British TV series including Dempsey and Makepeace, Absolutely Fabulous and Midsomer Murders.
Along with TV work, has also worked in the theatre. In 1986, in a London production of Annie Get Your Gun, she played Annie Oakley, the 19th-century sharpshooter and member of the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show.
Suzi Quatro has also hosted rock and roll shows on the British broadcaster BBC, Rockin’ with Suzi Q and Wake Up Little Suzi. She continues to write, perform and tour.
To date, Suzi Quatro’s Album releases are seventeen studio, one live album and eighteen Compilations. She has also released fifty-two singles.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist, Suzy Quatro has won many awards including six Bravo Otto ( Teenage magazine in Germany ).
In the United Kingdom, the BBC chose her as one of twelve Queens of British Pop in April 2009. On the 19th of October 2016, she was Awarded an honorary doctorate by the Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.
