Taylor Swift wrote the tracks during her first year at high school, writing three of the songs and co-writing others with Liz Rose, the American country music songwriter. She also co-wrote tracks with Robert Ellis Orrall, Brian Maher and Angelo Petraglia.
She initially worked with several producers, eventually settling with award-winning producer Nathan Chapman, who went on to produce her later albums Fearless, Speak Now, Red and 1989. He also created her demo.

Writing for AllMusic,  Jeff Tamarkin described the singer as ” a fresh, still girlish voice, full of hope and naïveté, but it’s also a confident and mature one. ” In a retrospective review published by Billboard, Jonathan Bradley wrote that the album was ” Swift’s foundational document ” adding that it ” contains inscribed in its eleven tracks everything encompassed by the pop colossus she would ultimately evolve into. ”
Five singles were released from the Taylor Swift album, all were certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ). Worldwide sales are over 10 million. It has been certified 7× Platinum in the United States, Platinum in Canada and Australia with Gold in the United Kingdom.
The lead single, ” Tim McGraw “, was released on the 19th of June 2006. Written by Taylor Swift and Liz Rose, her debut single’s composition is a mixture of traditional and modern country music. Lyrically, ” Tim McGraw ” looks back at a summer romance that suddenly halted, fondly reminiscing about an ex-boyfriend. The lyrics are directed towards Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, not Tim McGraw, the American country singer.
The single was a successful release for the singer. In the United States, it peaked at number forty on the Billboard Hot 100 and six on the Hot Country Songs Chart. It also charted in Canada where it peaked at number ten on the Billboard Country Chart.
The Taylor Swift album became a commercial success for Taylor Swift. In the United States, the album reached number five on the 19th of January 2008. It spent 275 weeks on the Billboard 200. It topped the Top Country Albums Chart on the 4th of August 2007 for twenty-four weeks, spending 178 weeks on the chart there. The album also topped the Country Albums chart in Canada and reached number fourteen on the mainstream chart.
In the United Kingdom, the Taylor Swift album entered the UK Albums Chart on the 5th of September 2009 and peaked at number eighty-one. It spent three weeks in the Top 100.
Elsewhere it reached number thirty-three in Australia ( mainstream, two country chart ), fifty-nine in Ireland and thirty-eight in New Zealand.

Taylor Alison Swift was born on the 13th of December 1989 in Reading, a city in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. She later moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a country music career.
Once in Nashville, Taylor Swift signed with the Sony/ATV Music publishing house, the youngest artist to do so. After coming to the attention of Scott Borchetta, owner of Big Machine Records, she left Sony and joined the fledgeling label that he was putting together, becoming one of the first artists to sign.
Her music is a mixture of pop, pop rock and country. Taylor Swift described herself as a country artist until the release of the album titled, 1989. Released on the 27th of October 2014, it became a turning point for her career. She described 1989 as a ” sonically cohesive pop album “.
By the start of 2016, she had notched up sales of 40 million albums and 130 million single downloads and is the third best-selling digital singles artist in the United States. In 2015, she gained a place on the Rolling Stone list of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time.
To date, Taylor Swift’s Album releases are six studio, four live and four video albums. She has also released two Extended Plays, fifty singles and forty-four music videos.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist, Taylor Swift has won many awards including ten Grammys, eight Academy of Country Music, four American Country, twenty-three American Music, one BBC Music, twenty-three Billboard Music, thirty-four BMI Country and one Brit.
