The Endless River Album Pink Floyd Rock Music

The Endless River Album is by Pink Floyd, the English progressive rock band. Their fifteenth and last studio album were released on the 7th of November 2014 in the United Kingdom under the record label Parlophone and in the United States by Columbia Records.
It is made up of instrumental and ambient music, which is based on some twenty hours worth of material the band recorded while working on their previous chart-topping album, The Division Bell, released on the 28th of March 1994.
The Endless River album is the third recorded under the direction of David Gilmour, the English guitarist, singer and songwriter, who took the helm after Roger Waters left in 1985. It is the first album release since the death in 2008 of founding member and keyboardist Rick Wright, who features posthumously.
Upon release, the album received mixed reviews in the music press. Ed Clarke, reviewing for recordcollectormag.com wrote ” If ever an album begs repeated listening, it’s this one, which manages to surprise and reassure at the same time; you’ll want to return. ” Mikael Wood, writing for the Los Angeles Times was not quite so enthusiastic about Pink Floyd’s possible last album calling it ” so excruciatingly dull ( even by Pink Floyd’s often-dull standards ) that the band’s name on the cover feels like a straight-up bait-and-switch. ”
Although Pink Floyd divided music critics, The Endless River Album became an instant hit. During the week before the release on the United Kingdom Amazon site, the album surpassed One Direction’s Four as the most pre-ordered album of all time.
The single ” Louder than Words “, was released on the 14th of October 2014. Although the album’s closing track, it was released as a promotional single to mainstream rock radio in the United States. The lyrics were written by Polly Samson, David Gilmour’s wife. ” Louder than Words ” is the only track on The Endless River Album to feature lyrics and features a posthumous appearance by Richard Wright. The single peaked at number twenty-nine on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs Chart in the United States. In Belgium, it reached number eighty-nine on the Ultratip in Flanders and thirty-eight in Wallonia.
The Endless River Album became a commercial success for Pink Floyd. On the Billboard 200 in the United States the album peaked at number three on the 29th of November 2014, it spent eleven weeks on the chart there.
In the United Kingdom, the album debuted at the top of the UK Albums Chart, spending one week at the top. It spent six weeks in the Top Ten and nineteen weeks in the Top 100.
The album also debuted at the top of the albums charts in France, Germany, Portugal, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand and Canada.

About Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd was an English progressive rock band. They took their name from two blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, whose records Syd Barrett had in his collection at home.
The band was founded in London, England in 1965 by Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. The line-up changed when David Gilmour joined in December 1967, and Syd Barrett left in 1968, his declining mental health forced him to leave.
Following tensions over the band’s creativity, Richard Wright departed in 1979, followed in 1985 by Roger Waters. David Gilmour and Nick Mason continued under the Pink Floyd with Richard Wright rejoining the band as a session musician, he later became a band member. Syd Barrett, at the age of 60, died on the 7th of July 2006 due to pancreatic cancer. Richard Wright died at the age of 65 from cancer on the 15th of September 2008.
Pink Floyd’s debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, was released on the 4th of August 1967. The album reached number 131 on the Billboard 200 in the United States and peaked at number six on the UK Albums Chart in the United Kingdom.
In 1996, Pink Floyd was inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and later in 2005 the UK Music Hall of Fame. The band released three more studio albums, and in 2014 they disbanded.
