The Fame Album is by Lady Gaga, the American singer, songwriter and actress. Lady Gaga’s debut studio album was released on the 19th of August 2008 to mostly good reviews from critics.
The Fame is a fusion of musical styles including electropop, synth-pop, and dance-pop. The song features Colby O’Donis, the American singer, songwriter, actor and record producer. Lyrically, the album focuses on Lady Gaga’s love of fame; it also deals with topics like love, sex, money, drugs and sexual identity.
Since it was released, the album has won and been nominated for many awards. The Fame was nominated for five Grammys at the 52nd Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, winning two Grammy Awards for Best Electronic/Dance Album and the Best Dance Recording her US Diamond certified single ” Poker Face “.
In 2010, it won Best International Album at the BRIT Awards. In 2013, The Fame made it onto Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Debut Albums of All-Time list.
On the 18th of November 2009, a reissue of the album was released titled The Fame Monster. With promotion through The Fame Ball Tour and numerous television appearances, The Fame went on to become the fifth best-selling album of 2009 and the seventh best-selling digital album in history.
As of April 2016, it has sales of over 4.7 million in the United States alone, and as of 2010, the worldwide sales are over 15 million.
The lead single, ” Just Dance “, was released on the 8th of April 2008. The single, Lady Gaga’s debut, has influences of R&B. Taking just ten minutes to write, it talks about being intoxicated while at a club.
In the United States, the song debuted at number seventy-six on the Billboard Hot 100. After five months it climbed to reach number two and finally hitting the top position a week later.
” Just Dance ” spent a total of forty-nine weeks on the chart and on the 29th of May 2015 was certified 8x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ) for sales of 8 million copies.
The single also reached Number One in Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, as well as reaching the Top Ten in many other countries.
The Fame Album became a commercial success for Lady Gaga. In the United States, it peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and also went on to top the Dance/Electronic Albums Chart for 106 non-consecutive weeks.
The album also reached Number One in the United Kingdom, Scotland, Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Poland and Switzerland.
