Thirty Miles West Album is by Alan Jackson, the American singer-songwriter. The album, his seventeenth, was released on the 5th of June 2012 by Alan’s Country Records.
Thirty Miles West became the first album released by Alan’s Country Records, a label set up by Alan as a joint venture with Capitol/EMI Nashville, owned by Universal Music Group.
Upon release, it received favourable reviews from critics. Billy Dukes, writing for tasteofcountry commented that ” The project could use a few more shots of adrenaline to appeal to younger listeners, but no longtime fan of Jackson’s will be disappointed with the songs he’s assembled. ”
The title of the album is a reference to part of a highway near Newnan in the U.S State of Georgia, an area where Alan grew up.
The city in the county seat of Coweta County, Georgia, was established in 1828 and gets its name from General Daniel Newnan, who was both a Colonel and a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives between 1831 to 1833.
The lead single, ” Long Way to Go “, was released on the 27th of June 2011. The song, written and recorded by Alan, had positive reviews from critics.
The video, directed by Canadian film and music video director Steven Goldmann, features the world-famous Square Grouper Tiki Bar, the live music venue and eaterie in Jupiter, Palm Beach County, Florida, United States.
” Long Way to Go ” was a successful single for Alan Jackson. In the United States, it reached number twenty-four on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and twenty on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Chart.
The Thirty Miles West album also had chart success. In the United States, it topped the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.
In the United Kingdom, it reached number three on the UK Country Albums Chart.
The album also reached number six in Australia, four in Canada, fourteen in Norway and forty-five in Sweden. In Germany, it reached seventeen on the German Newcomer Chart.
About Alan Jackson
Alan Eugene Jackson was born on the 17th of October 1958 in Newnan, Georgia, United States.
He got his first job in the mailroom of The Nashville Network, now known as Paramount Network, owned by Viacom.
Alan’s wife, Denise Jackson, at the time an air-stewardess, met Glen Campbell by chance while he was waiting for a connecting flight. She told Glen Campbell about her husband. The result of that meeting was a songwriting deal with his publishing company, kickstarting his career.
Alan Jackson released his debut album, Here in the Real World, on the 27th of February 1990. In the United States, the album reached number fifty-four on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number four on the Top Country Albums Chart. The Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ) certified the album 2 x Platinum in August 1994.
Since his debut album, Alan Jackson has worldwide sales of over 80 million records. As of February 2018, he has topped the Country Singles Chart in the United States thirty-five times.
To date, Alan Jackson’s Album releases are sixteen studio albums, one live, twelve Compilations, six Video and one Tribute. He has also released sixty-six singles and fifty-two music videos.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist, Alan Jackson has won two Grammy Awards, two American Music, fourteen Academy of Country Music, one Billboard Music, fifteen Country Music Association, one ICMA, one ASCAP and one Golden Boot.
Alan Jackson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017.
