True Blue Album is by Madonna, the American singer, songwriter and actress.
Her third studio album was released on the 30th of June 1986 under the record label, Sire Records.
All nine tracks featured were co-written and co-produced by Madonna with Stephen Bray and Patrick Leonard, it also features songwriting credits for Gardner Cole, Peter Rafelson and Bruce Gaitsch.
True Blue album deals with her perception of love, along with work, dreams and life’s disappointments.
She took inspiration from her then-husband, Sean Penn, the American Actor and filmmaker. The album was dedicated to him.
The True Blue album received positive reviews from the music press. In his retrospective review, AllMusic‘s Stephen Thomas Erlewine gave it just short of the maximum five stars. He called it ” one of the great dance-pop albums. ” He noted that it ” demonstrates Madonna’s true skills as a songwriter, record-maker, provocateur, and entertainer. ”
In Davitt Sigerson’s review for the Rolling Stone magazine, dated the 17th of July 1986, he commented that the True Blue album ” may generate fewer sales and less attention than Like a Virgin, but it sets her up as an artist for the long run. ”
The album went on to become the top-selling album of 1986 worldwide and the best-selling album of the decade by a female recording artist. Estimated sales worldwide are over 25 million copies, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.
It has been certified Diamond in France and Canada, 7x Platinum in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
5x Platinum in New Zealand and 4x Platinum in Australia and Argentina. In Brazil and Japan, true Blue album has been certified Gold.
The lead single, ” Live to Tell “, was released on the 26th of March 1986. Co-written and co-produced by Madonna and Patrick Leonard, the pop ballad, deals with deceit, mistrust and inner strength.
The single became a successful release. In the United States, ” Live to Tell ” topped the chart for one week on the 7th of June 1986 and spent eighteen weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. It also peaked at Number One on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.
In the United Kingdom, the single entered the UK Singles Chart on the 26th of April 1986 at number ninety-three, peaking at number two. It spent five weeks in the Top Ten and thirteen weeks in the Top 100.
Madonna was denied a UK number One by Falco, the Austrian singer-songwriter. His single, ” Rock Me Amadeus ” held the top spot for one week.
Elsewhere, Madonna scored a Number One with the song in Canada and Italy. In Ireland and Sweden, it peaked at two and in Iceland and the Netherlands, ” Live to Tell ” reached number three.
The True Blue album became a commercial success for Madonna. In the United States, the album topped the chart on the 16th of August 1986, holding the Number One position for five weeks. It spent eighty-two weeks on the Billboard 200. On the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, it peaked at number forty-seven.
In the United Kingdom, the album entered the UK Albums Chart on the 12th of July 1986 at Number One and spent six weeks at the top. It spent thirty-six weeks in the Top Ten and ninety weeks in the Top 100.
The True Blue album also topped the albums charts in Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Japan. It peaked at number two in Austria, Norway and Sweden.

Her video releases are sixty-eight music, eleven-concert tour, two documentary, four compilations, two box sets, four promotional and five video singles.
As a multi-award-winning recording artist, she has won many awards throughout her career including two Golden Globes, seven Grammys, three American Music, six ASCAP Pop and four Billboard.
