( What’s the Story ) Morning Glory? Album is by Oasis, the English rock band. Their second studio album was released on the 2nd of October 1995 under the record label Creation Records.
All but one song was written by Noel Gallagher, the group’s lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist and primary songwriter. The first track ” Hello ” was initially written by Gary Glitter and Mike Leander.
Noel Gallagher co-produced ( What’s the Story ) Morning Glory? album along with British record producer Owen Morris, who has also worked with The Kaiser Chiefs, Ash and The Verve.
The album was recorded at Rockfield Studios, located near Monmouth, a historic market town in the Wye Valley, Wales. The long-established studios have played host to a variety of artists across many music genres including Black Sabbath, Manic Street Preachers, Nigel Kennedy, Adam and the Ants, Mike Oldfield, KT Tunstall and Clannad.
The record, which was the first by Oasis to feature drummer Alan White, differed from their 1994 debut, Definitely Maybe, which was rawer in the composition.
The album received a lukewarm response from critics in the music press. Awarding four stars out of five, Jon Weiderhorn, writing for Rolling Stone, said the album was ” more than a natural progression, it’s a bold leap forward. ” He also noted the change in direction for songwriter Noel Gallagher since their first offering, saying that he was ” once filled melodies with sharp, bristling guitars and crisp, cracking beats, these days he’s relying on gentle, reflective rhythms. ” In Andy Gill’s review for British newspaper The Independent, he liked the album overall saying ” Throughout, it’s Gallagher’s way with a tune, any tune, that remains their trump card. ” However he was negative about the track ” She’s Electric ” calling it ” laddism of a tiresomely generic kind. ”
Previously labelled as a mere indie act, the record became a turning point in their career, shooting them to worldwide stardom and cementing their place in British indie music history.

About Oasis

Oasis were an English rock band. Formed in Manchester in 1991, the members were Liam and Noel Gallagher, Paul ‘ Bonehead ‘ Arthurs, Paul ‘ Guigsy ‘ McGuigan, Tony.
Called Rain in the beginning, after a Beatles single B-side, the band didn’t feature the Gallagher brothers, who joined later. Liam suggested a name change, choosing Oasis, which was inspired by a tour poster for Inspiral Carpets which Liam had seen.
Their early gigs were often turbulent, with Liam baiting the audience and constant fighting on and off stage between the brothers Gallagher becoming the stuff of music legend.
In 1993, Oasis persuaded a promoter to allow them to perform at King Tut’s Wah Hut in the Scottish city of Glasgow. Present in the club was record label creator Alan McGee. He’d heard of their reputation and had every intention to avoid them, however after hearing two songs; he was ready to sign them to his label.
The band went from strength to strength from then on, with their first gig in London selling out in minutes. A record-breaking audience of over 200,000 at the Knebworth festival in 1996 meant that the band had gone from a minor support act to international stars.
In 2009, the tension between Noel and Liam got worse with Noel announcing to the press that he was leaving the band. The remaining members continued as Beady Eye, led by Liam Gallagher they finally disbanded in 2014. Noel continued to record and perform under the name Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
