Wrapped in Red Album is by Kelly Clarkson, the American singer. Her sixth studio album was released on the 25th of October 2013 under the record label RCA Records.
The Wrapped in Red album was produced by Greg Kurstin, who co-wrote two of the tracks, including the lead single.
The album, which features vocals by Ronnie Dunn, Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood on two of the songs, is made up of sixteen tracks, five original songs and eleven covers.
The musical style for the album range from pop, jazz and country to soul. The inspiration for the compositions came from many different sources including Christmas albums by Mariah Carey and Phil Spector, along with the 1965 animated television special A Charlie Brown Christmas and White Christmas, the 1954 American musical film.
The Wrapped in Red album received positive reviews in the music press. Writing for Slant Magazine Sal Cinquemani gave Kelly Clarkson four and a half stars out of five with particular praise for the lead single, ” Underneath the Tree “, saying it was ” likely to become Clarkson’s very own contemporary standard. ” AllMusic‘s Stephen Thomas Erlewine was just short of a five-star rating. He liked the album overall and praised Kelly Clarkson’s delivery saying ” the arrangements are bold and brassy, as is her delivery — but when the tempo slows and the arrangements scale back, she’s perhaps even more alluring, ” concluding that ” it delivers what it promises. ” Caroline Sullivan, writing for British newspaper The Guardian, was positive with an award of three stars, she commented that ” Clarkson takes the view that Christmas is as much about wistfulness and unfulfilled wishes as it is unbridled joy. ”
The lead single, ” Underneath the Tree ” was released on the 5th of November 2013. Written by Kelly Clarkson and Greg Kurstin, the uptempo pop song became a successful release for Kelly Clarkson.
In the United States, it became the Number One on the Adult Contemporary Chart, staying at the top for four weeks. It also reached number seventy-eight on the Billboard Top 100, peaked at eight on the Holiday 100 and made it to twenty-two on the Pop Digital Songs Chart.
In the United Kingdom, ” Underneath the Tree ” entered the UK Singles Chart on the 14th of December 2013 and reached number thirty. It stayed for two weeks in the Top Forty, remaining in the Top 100 for thirteen weeks.
The single charted inside the Top 100 in Canada, Austria, Belgium ( Flanders ), Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Scotland, South Korea, Sweden and Switzerland.
The Wrapped in Red album became a commercial success for Kelly Clarkson. In the United States, the album peaked at number three on the 16th of November 2013 and spent thirty-five weeks on the billboard 200. Other Billboard Chart positions were one on the Billboard Top Holiday Albums and nineteen on the Top Tastemaker Albums.
In the United Kingdom, the album entered the UK Albums Chart on the 14th of December 2013 and peaked at number sixty-five. It spent one week in the Top 100.
Other countries album chart positions for the Wrapped in Red album were Australia twenty-nine, Canada five, Belgium ( Flanders ) 183, France 165, Greece sixty-two, Ireland sixty-four, Japan 237, South Korea sixty-eight, Scotland sixty-eight, Switzerland ninety-seven.
