Youthquake Album is by Dead or Alive. Released in May 1985, it was their first time working with the Stock Aitken Waterman production team.
The album reached number nine in the United Kingdom and was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ) for sales of over 100,000 copies.
In The United States it was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ) for sales over 500,000, and in Canada, the Youthquake album was certified Platinum.
The lead single, ” You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) “, was released on the 5th of November 1984 and went on to be the first UK Number One hit single by the production trio, Stock Aitken Waterman.
The single reached the top of the UK Singles Chart in March 1985, taking seventeen weeks to get there. In the United States, the single peaked at number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100 in August of that year.
The Youthquake Album was a commercial success for Dead or Alive. In the United Kingdom, it reached a peak of number nine on the UK Albums Chart.
In the United States, it peaked at number thirty-one on the Billboard 200. It also charted in Canada, Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Japan, Sweden and Switzerland.

About Dead or Alive

Dead or Alive was an English pop band. They formed in Liverpool in 1980. Pete Burns founded a proto-goth band called Nightmares In Wax in 1979; a year later changes were made to the line-up with the name being changed to Dead or Alive.
They were one of the most successful bands of the 1980s. At the height of their success, the line-up consisted of Pete Burns, Mike Percy, Steve Coy and Tim Lever.
Their debut album, Sophisticated Boom Boom, released in April 1984, took the title from a Shangri-Las song of the same name. The album, featuring mostly synthpop had limited success in the United Kingdom where it reached number twenty-nine on the UK Singles Chart.
It contained their first UK Top Forty single, ” That’s the Way ( I Like It ) “, a cover version of KC & the Sunshine Band’s Billboard Hot 100 Number One.
To date, Dead or Alive’s album releases are seven studio, five Compilations and two video Albums. They also released twenty-eight singles and seventeen music videos.
In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked Dead or Alive as the 96th most successful dance artist of all-time. As of 2017, they have worldwide sales of over 30 million albums and 28 million singles.
Lead singer Pete Burns died of a heart attack at the age of 57 on the 23rd October 2016, shortly after the band decided to discontinue.
